Catalog of Classes of the Living Light Philosophy

The Serenity Association takes great pleasure in publishing the catalog of classes of the Living Light Philosophy. The numerous classes of spiritual teachings described in these synopses represent the fruits of many years of serving the Spirit.

The Living Light Philosophy, patterned after life herself, is the understanding  developed over centuries of study by a great teacher from the higher realms of Light, identified only as the Old Man or the Wise One, as many students prefer to call him. The first of these teachings was received through trance mediumship by Richard P. Goodwin from the Wise One during classes for spiritual unfoldment, which Mr. Goodwin was conducting.

These spiritual awareness classes are organized into categories and then by the volume of The Living Light Dialogue in which the classes have been published.

Consciousness Classes

The Consciousness Classes were given to a relatively small group of students of the Living Light and although these classes were given in semesters and are often interrelated, each class is complete within itself. Each synopsis includes the main topics that were discussed in that class.  In addition to the printed books, all Consciousness Classes are available as audio recordings on compact discs or as downloadable MP3 files

Church Lectures and Church Questions and Answers

The Church Lectures (CL) and the Church Questions and Answers (CQA) series of classes were given by Mr. Goodwin on the first Sunday of each month as part of the devotional services of Serenity Spiritualist Church.  These classes were given to the general public in attendance on that Sunday, and many consider these classes to be quite accessible to new students and those who are interested in learning more about the Living Light Philosophy. When the church first opened in 1971, Mr. Goodwin's lectures were followed by a short question-and-answer period during which members of the congregation asked questions. However, in a short time, the question-and-answer period was discontinued. Then, in 1980, the lecture format evolved to an question-and-answer exchange and a new series of classes was initiated.

A/V Seminars

The A/V Seminars were given to a small group of students at the Serenity Temple.  Many regard these classes as more advanced teachings, which provide more details and a more nuanced understanding of the laws that govern all life. Although these seminars cover a broad range of topics, many have specific themes. For example, A/V Seminar 2 deals with transition or death and has a subtitle of "Our Inevitable Journey," while A/V Seminar 12 focuses on the purpose of design.  Each synopsis includes the quotes of some of the topics that were discussed.

A/V Class Private Series

This series of classes was also given to a small group of students at the Serenity Temple.  And, as the name suggests, these classes were private and could only be discussed with those who attended them. Before he passed on to the higher life, Mr. Goodwin left instructions that all classes, even private teachings, were to be published after he passed on. And so it is that these once-private teachings are now available to students throughout the world. However, hundreds of classes were given before this series; so it behooves any student to be familiar with the earlier classes to more fully appreciate this volume.
