CQA 39: “Ever in keeping with our belief in limit, ever in keeping with our dependence upon something beyond our control to improve our life, does our world appear to us. . . If you are kind to yourself, then you have the kindness to grant to another. . . You see, it’s like consideration. It isn’t that we need more of it. We have plenty of consideration. I know many people who have a phenomenal amount of consideration. Why, they consider themselves constantly. So, you see, it isn’t a matter of having more of anything. It is only a matter of broadening or expressing in more avenues of expression what we already have. . . there’s nothing that we need. It is only our view."

CQA 40: “So whether or not we believe or do not believe in an effort to seek God, it is the nature [of] us to return to that which we truly are. . . when we permit our mind to identify with what we call self or self-thought, we are, at that moment, controlled by all experiences that exist in what is known as the memory par excellence. . . Now because experiences are the effects and are never the causes, all experiences are in truth a mirror, which reflects and reveals to us the levels of consciousness that are predominant or in control of our life at any give moment. . . In order to be free from the constant repetition of past experiences, man must make the daily effort to free himself from over-identification with self. . . outward manifestations are merely revelations of our own inner attitude of mind. . . belief is not balance. Reason is. Faith is its direction. . . But of what benefit is it, in truth, to learn and not to apply? . . nature reveals to us that she wastes nothing. . . There’s nothing spiritual about a law that serves limit! . . For there is no judgment, by its very nature, that can free anyone. The only thing that frees us is accepting the truth that what we are is the way we are, for we alone insist that it be that way."

CQA 41: “Repetition is indispensable to evolution. . . When we find difficulty in making changes that we know inside of our self are in our own best interests, it reveals to us that we are attached to the shadows of experiences that have already passed. . . it is important with what we do moment by moment, not year by year, but moment by moment. . . Fear . . . is indispensable to faith in the human mind. . . Fear is nothing more and it is nothing less than faith in the experiences that we have already had That’s called fear; it is our faith in those past experiences. . . the degree of rejection that anyone experiences is totally dependent upon how much they rely upon what they consider self. . . If they have a very strong belief, through the love of self, which is the attachment to self, then the rejection feeling, of course, is very intense. With that amount of self-love, an attachment to self, we walk on very thin ice with what is known as a china-cabinet ego. It [is] very, very delicate. . . It is the mind that manipulates. It is the mind that needs. It is the mind that denies and therefore, it is the mind that suffers and never the soul. . . where we have been dictates where we are going as long as we insist upon relying on self. . . Tomorrow is not a question to man. Tomorrow is a question to those who believe in the shadow of yesterday. . . we cannot expect, nor demand, to enter a spiritual world while we insist on being attached to a mental vehicle. . . My good friends, if you want to be attached to something, choose something with a little reason. . . we always get what we really need. We always get that, although we don’t always think that we need it.”

CQA 42: “. . . reason, being a soul faculty, is not subject to the human mind or the dictates thereof. . . It is, for most people, rather difficult to accept the possibility of something that they do not have conscious realization of. . . the human mind is designed to serve the eternal being, known as the soul. It was never designed to dictate what the eternal soul shall or shall not do. It is through our error of ignorance that we have permitted, through over-identification with the mental world, we have permitted it to become the authority in our life. . . God is not a giver because God is not a taker. . . do not suppress desire. Suppressed desire is the first thing to rise at the slightest opportunity to take control over our lives. . . If one truly is seeking to awaken to their natural talent, then one makes the effort to be receptive to something beyond the self-thought. . . belief fills our need. Our need serves our judgment. And our judgment is our denial. . . man is a law unto himself. . . That which sustains anything is greater than the thing that it sustains. . . A denial, of course, is a child of judgment. . . “Personal responsibility reveals to me that I am a law unto myself. What, now, am I doing with the law that I am?” . . . There is no freedom, for there is no truth, as long as we insist on believing what thought enters our consciousness. . . And so we fear life because we believe we are creation. We believe we are the physical body and whenever we believe that, we pay a dear price for it. . . everything that you experience in life is first taking place within your consciousness. First within your consciousness, then is it made manifest in a physical, material world of creation. . . When you want something in your life, you establish the law within your consciousness . . . For what is discouragement, the first line of defense to protect what we judge is right . . .”
